Preparation

Preparation Makes a Big Difference

A well-prepared home leads to better photos—and better photos lead to faster, higher offers. Here’s how to get your listing ready to shine on camera.

Timing & What to Expect

Most photo shoots allow for about one hour on-site. Our photographers will do some light straightening—fluffing pillows, adjusting chairs, or tucking away a trash bin—but the home should be “photo-ready” when we arrive.

Declutter for a Cleaner Look

If the home is occupied, clutter can be a challenge. For best results, clear surfaces like kitchen counters, bathroom vanities, and tables.

If items need to be temporarily moved between rooms, agents may need to assist during the shoot. One of the best tricks: gather any non-essential items and store them neatly in the garage before the appointment.

Boost Curb Appeal

The front of the home is the first impression—make it count!

  • Remove cars from the driveway (and from the street, if possible)

  • Put away garden hoses, trash bins, toys, or tools

  • Mow the lawn and tidy up landscaping

Light Makes Everything Better

Buyers love bright homes—and so do cameras!

  • Open blinds and curtains to let in natural light

  • Replace dim bulbs with the brightest ones allowed for each fixture

  • Move furniture away from windows or sliding doors if it’s blocking light

While we can brighten photos with professional editing, nothing beats a naturally well-lit space.
